If your New Year’s resolution is to save money, you can get a head start at the fuel bowser today.

The last day of the year will also be the cheapest to fill up your tank as average prices drop to their lowest in 16 months.

The average unleaded fuel price in the metro area today is just 114.6¢ per litre, while several service stations are selling fuel for as little as 107.3c/litre.

Thanks to WA’s weekly fuel cycle, which appoints Monday as the cheapest day to fill up, motorists will be hit with an increase of around 20¢/litre.

Tomorrow, from 6am, most Coles Express sites are increasing their ULP price to 142.9 ¢/litre (an increase of 30 ¢/litre on today’s price).

All 7-Eleven and most BP sites are increasing their ULP price to 139.9¢/litre, most Caltex sites to 139.7¢/litre, most Caltex Woolworths sites to 139.5¢/litre and most Puma sites to 138.7¢/litre.

Tuesday’s cheapest ULP will be available for 112.7¢/litre at Puma High Wycombe; 110.3¢/litre at United South Lake and 109.9¢/litre at Caltex Woolworths Ellenbrook, Caltex Woolworths Osborne Park and United Bassendean in the North.

Last Monday – Christmas Eve – the average price in Perth was a little over 116c/litre, while on Christmas Day, prices leapt to more than 135c/litre.

The prices are the cheapest since August 2017, when the average in Perth was just 113.3c/litre.

This year, prices soared to an average of 148.5c/litre, with June, July and September the most expensive times to fill up in Perth.

Just two months ago on October 16, Perth motorists were stung with record prices of 165.5c/litre.

Regional motorists are also enjoying cheaper fuel today. Wheatbelt motorists are paying an average of just 113.7c/litre, while Peel motorists are paying an average of 111.3c/litre.

If you’re returning from a trip down south, South West stations are selling fuel for an average of 121.7c/litre today.

In the Pilbara, prices remain the most expensive in the State at an average of 159.5c/litre, while in the Gascoyne, motorists will pay an average of 149.9c/litre.

The cheapest stations in Perth today are Caltex Woolworths outlets in Ellenbrook and Morley Galleria.

Other stations selling fuel for less than 111c/litre include United stations in Bassendean, Armadale, Ellenbrook, Lexia, South Lake, Hamilton Hill, Leda Osborne Park, Hepburn Heights and Padbury, Caltex outlets at Dianella, Cockburn, Secret Harbour, South Lake, Warnbro, Canning Vale, Livingston, and Joondalup and Vibe outlets in Spearwood, Armadale, Hamilton Hill and Yangebup.

In the Peel region, Caltex Woolworths stations in Falcon and Mandurah are the cheapest at just 111.3c/litre.
