The benefits of engaging mature aged employees now include a financial incentive, making recruiting mature aged workers more attractive to all businesses.

On Monday 14th January 2013, Kate Ellis, the Minister for Employment and Participation, launched the Governments Experience + Jobs Bonus initiative. This program aims to entice employers to engage mature aged job seekers and provides bonuses each of $1,000, up to $2,500 per year until 2016.

More than just wisdom

At the launch of the initiative Minister Ellis encouraged all businesses to take advantage of the many benefits that working with mature aged employees offers. Highlighting that in addition to bringing a wealth of experience and wisdom to a business, mature aged workers “can save their employers $2,000 a year on average compared to their younger counterparts they are more reliable, loyal and provide a better return on investment”.
