Car on fire after petrol tanker crash
Two cars and a truck carrying a tank of diesel crashed east of Perth on Saturday leaving one car on fire.
The accident happened on Great Southern Highway near Horton Road between The Lakes Roadhouse and York.
A staff member at the roadhouse told WAtoday: “I have seen a lot of fire engines and ambulances racing down the road to York.”
The RAC Rescue helicopter was also sent to the scene.
Initial reports said that one person was trapped in their vehicle – but DFES said that could not be confirmed.
A spokesperson for DFES said: “It seems that one of the cars clipped the truck, then crossed into the other lane and had a head-on collision with the second car.”
Police asked motorists to avoid the area due to diesel spilling onto the road
By 2.30pm emergency services seemed to have the incident under control.
A police spokesman said: “It doesn’t look as if there are any serious or life threatening injuries. The Major Crash Squad have been told they don’t need to attend.”
