Police are searching for an armed man who tried to rob a Gold Coast service station.

They said the man carried a knife and a blowtorch into the Ashmore business about 1:00am (AEST) yesterday and demanded money.

The male attendant took refuge in an office and the man ran off empty-handed.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman accused of possessing dangerous drugs with a street value of more than $300,000 are due to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police allege they found about 10,000 ecstasy tablets, as well as methylamphetamine, or ‘ice’, in a car they stopped at Bilinga on Saturday night.

A 50-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Logan Reserve, south of Brisbane, are due to appear in court today.
