A Murray Bridge man and a woman accused of stealing fuel in drive offs from service stations were arrested after a police chase early today.

The man, 21, and woman, 30, who are charged with a range of offences, are expected to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court today.

Police say the pair failed to stop a black 4WD on Joseph St when directed by police just after 3.30am.

“The occupants of this car had allegedly made off without paying for petrol on two occasions,’’ a police spokesman said.

“The black four-wheel-drive failed to stop and police pursued the vehicle through numerous streets.’’

Police lost sight of the 4WD but found it a short time later on Swanport Road and arrested the pair.

Police charged the man with breaching bail, engaging in a police pursuit and driving while disqualified while the woman was charged with breaching bail.

“Both were refused bail and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court today,’’ the spokesman said.
