A man is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court this morning charged over the alleged armed robbery of a service station last week.
Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged robbery of the business on Maitland Road, Mayfield, about 3.30am last Thursday (16 April 2015).
Police say a man, allegedly armed with a knife, confronted the attendant and demanded cash and cigarettes.
The attendant complied and the man left the service station.
At 11.30am yesterday (Monday 20 April 2015), Newcastle detectives attended a home in Hanbury Street, Mayfield, where a 21-year old man was arrested.
He was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.
He was bail refused to attend Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 21 April 2015).
