Police have charged a teenager who allegedly tried to hit a service station operator who handed over the wrong brand of cigarettes during a robbery.
It’s alleged the 19-year-old kicked in a glass security door at a service station in the Ipswich suburb of Booval about 9.20pm Tuesday but couldn’t get behind the counter.
Police say he demanded money and cigarettes from the attendant who complied.
It’s alleged the man “became further agitated” and tried to hit the Brisbane Road service station attendant when he was not given the right brand of cigarettes.
The man then fled on foot.
A teenager from Bellbird Park, near Redbank Plains, was later caught and charged with one count of robbery and one count of obstruct police.
The service station worker was not injured.
