Petrol stations in the northern suburbs have been robbed after staff were threatened with a weapon, possibly a hand gun.

A man entered a service station on Anchorage Drive in Mindarie around 9:50pm on Wednesday. He threatened staff and demanded money. He fled after cash and cigarettes were handed over.

On Thursday, around 3.35am, a man entered a service station on Winton Road in Joondalup and threatened staff with a weapon, described as a hand gun. The man took off after being given cash and cigarettes.

The offender is described as fair-skinned and was wearing a dark hooded jacket.

Police are investigating if the incidents are linked.
