City of Greater Bendigo mayor Peter Cox is encouraging motorists to shop around for petrol as prices fluctuate throughout Bendigo by up to 22 cents per litre.
Cr Cox said unleaded petrol prices were as low as 117.9 cents per litre in West Bendigo and up to 139.9 cents per litre in nearby Long Gully.
“The cost of fuel impacts on the budgets of so many in our community including pensioners, families and small businesses. I am encouraging motorists to shop around so they can get the best deal possible,” he said.
“As to why the price difference is so great, well that remains a mystery.
“Earlier this year I wrote to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission asking them to provide a plain English explanation for price differences between Bendigo and Melbourne.
“Unfortunately, I am still waiting.”
