Last year’s ACAPMA National Conference & Expo changed the dynamics of industry events throughout the country. Delegates heard from a line-up of educational and motivational speakers as well networked at each of the outstanding social events held each night.
“Expect no less this year”, ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie said.
“Once again we believe the variety and depth of our keynote speakers, along with the range of social events on offer will make this event the highlight of the year for the downstream petroleum industry.”
From the opening event on Tuesday September, 22 through until the finale event on the Thursday evening, delegates will be able to; learn, network and engage with industry within a relaxed environment.
The first day of conference sessions kicks off on Wednesday 23 September, at the Business Insight Breakfast. Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Head Economist, John Peters will share over breakfast the economic outlook of Australia and answer some of those tough questions you rarely get to ask, Mark said
The next session following on from breakfast; ‘Customers First’ is an in-depth look into what consumers are looking for from your industry. ACAPMA has commissioned the very first research study, where consumer outcomes provide the learnings on how service station owners may be able to tailor their service offerings specifically to consumer needs. Learn during this session what other operators have implemented into their business, with some great results.
“Ending day one of conference sessions, will be a robust analysis of the future of LPG on the forecourt. Like any good debate, ‘The Great Gas Debate’ will be an interesting discussion both for and against this contentious issue. Leading the charge for the affirmative team is; Cameron Ure, Unigas and Geoff Griffiths, Endeavour Stores. The opposing team will be led by, Mark McKenzie, CEO ACAPMA, along with Steve Cardinale, New Sunrise Group. There is still one more person for each team to be announced, but be assured there will be an element of humour”, said Mark.
After the first full day of conference sessions you will be able to let your hair down at the White Party, it’s a party you won’t want to miss. Set in the beautiful surrounds of the Marriott lagoon and pool, you will be amazed with entertainment shows never before seen at an ACAPMA event. “That’s saying something”, says Mark.” Anyone who attended last year’s social events, I am sure would be thinking that this would be hard to beat”.
The final day of conference, Thursday 24th September, opens with the session entitled, “Changing the Legislative Landscape”. Delegates will hear from industry leaders on; transport, competition and environmental issues facing our industry.
Following on from this will be a review on one of the most serious issues facing all of industry; “A Burning Issue: Safety on the Forecourt” is the session that will explain some of the current safety, liability and work quality outcomes that can and will have a catastrophic impact on the industry if not addressed. ACAPMA has invited a representative from four differing perspectives; major oil, retail, contractor and insurance providers. “This is a major industry wide issue”, Mark said and through the support of the E & S committee previously known as the APICSA Council, ACAPMA has developed an accreditation scheme which will provide a solution to this problem”.
To end this year’s National Conference & Expo is the session; Back to the Future: 20 Years from Now. ACAPMA is thrilled to announce internationally recognized speaker, author and facilitator Michael McAllum, who works predominantly with organisations and cities to develop strategies, innovative thinking and new business models that make them resilient in a fast changing world. “McAllum will provide a futuristic view on what a typical site will look like 20years from now” said Mark.
The finale social event to close the 2015 event, will be a little naughty. Delegates will be drawn into a world of cabaret in a fun and devilishly unpredictable evening. The ballroom will be transformed to the magic and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip. Shockingly exciting entertainment full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun, will delight and thrill you all whilst you enjoy a three course meal and superb selection of wines at this gala event
All these events are included in your delegate registration, or can be booked separately. More information on the social events can be found at the conference website.
