The Return to Work Act 2014 replaces the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1986 in South Australia from 1 July 2015.  SA businesses are encouraged to use this change to focus on risk assessment and prevention and to take control of their claims process and thus take advantage of the opportunity to control their premiums.

In outlining the benefits of the new scheme, RTW SA Chari Jane Yuile said employer would be able to identify and directly influence the premium they pay each year based on injury claims, “employers with better work injury claims performance can preserve their discounts and pay less”.

Yuile encourages businesses to ensure that they are focusing on assessing risk and preventing incidents.  If there is an incident, Yuile recommends engaging with the RTW SA mobile case managers to effect the best outcomes for worker and the business.
