FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a boat shed fire in Bedlam Bay that threatened LPG cylinders and sent a plume of smoke over the inner west and northern suburbs.

The thick black plume of smoke started billowing across northern suburbs around 10am with fire crews quickly arriving at the scene on Punt Rd, Bedlam Bay.

Port Authority and Water Police boats were also used to help fight the blaze with crews particularly concerned with cooling several LPG cylinders at the site.

Firefighters had the fire under control within half an hour despite the smoke hanging over the inner west.
