A TRUCK fire near Hartley Rd at Mt Annan has closed three of five eastbound lanes of Narellan Rd.

A Camden Local Area Command spokesman said the truck was a petrol tanker with no petrol on board.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokeswoman said the fire started in the front region of the truck near the cabin and engine, but the cause was yet to be determined.

Emergency services were called to the scene at noon.

Three fire trucks attended the fire. The spokeswoman said the fire was now under control.

“One fuel tank was destroyed in the fire and we’re now waiting on hazmat crews, who are on the way, to decant about 570 litres of diesel,” she said.

Police have advised motorists to avoid the area and the road will remain closed until a tow truck is able to remove the burnt out truck.

Bus routes 894, 895, 896 and 898 are being directed off Narellan Rd via Smeaton Grange Rd, which will mean three stops are missed.
