AN OFF-DUTY police officer has allegedly been bashed by two men at a petrol station near Ipswich.

The off-duty officer was in his car when he was allegedly approached by two men aged 21 and 22 at the Caltex petrol station on Old Logan Road at Camira.

He identified himself as a police officer however the two men still assaulted him, police will allege.

The two alleged offenders escaped on foot, however they were found and taken into custody a short time later.

Both of the men were charged with serious assault of a police officer along with a string of charges.

They will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on the 29th October.
