A MAN who held up a Salisbury Downs service station with a hammer has been arrested.

The man allegedly entered the Caltex service station on Salisbury Highway at about noon on Tuesday and threatened staff with the hammer, but left empty-handed.

No one was physically injured.

A Salisbury man, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

He was refused bail and would appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday..

Police initially thought a the man fled in a white Holden Commodore SV6, but have since discounted the vehicle’s involvement.
