DO you leave your keys in the car while you pay for your fuel purchase at the local service station?

It may be a habit which you need to reconsider, you never know who is watching, police said.

A vehicle owner attended a service station on Koumala Rd in Sarina on October 12 at 6.55pm and left his vehicle briefly to pay for his fuel, leaving the keys in the ignition.

The observant thief jumped at this opportunity and the vehicle’s owner watched his vehicle being driven away.

The stolen vehicle is a 2004 Toyota Landcruiser, white in colour, registration number 795 HTG.

If you see this vehicle, contact either your local police station or Policelink 131 444 to advise of its location.

A description of the suspect is provided:

  • Indigenous appearance, 180 centimetres tall, black hair and wearing a black jumper with a red motif on the front and black and white football style shorts
