ACAPMA is hosting a cocktail party to mark the formal launch of preparations for the inaugural Australasian Fuel Industry Forum (AFI Forum) which will be held in Singapore between 13 and 15 September 2016. The event has been timed to coincide with the conduct of the 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, providing participants with the opportunity to do business and then enjoy one of the premier events in the international motor racing calendar.

The 2016 Australasian Fuel Industry Forum (AFI Forum) is an inaugural event that has been developed to replace ACAPMA’s traditional National Conference and Expo.

In creating this new event, consideration was given to two principal business objectives. Firstly, to facilitate information exchange (at both a strategic and technical level) between the Downstream Petroleum Industry in Australia and markets throughout SE Asia.

Second to create bona-fide opportunities for Australian petroleum businesses (wholesale, retail, services and equipment suppliers) to explore potential business opportunities within the south-east Asian market.

Accordingly, the inaugural Australasian Fuel Industry Forum will comprise two key elements, namely:

  • Conference: Featuring an array of sessions ranging from economy to environment and wholesale to contractor, the conference will seek to provide industry participants with an appreciation of the contemporary issues facing the downstream petroleum industry in Australia and SE Asia.
  • Trade Hall: Combining a trade exhibition and technical seminars, half of the venue will be dedicated to a trade hall that will allow industry suppliers to promote their services in an innovative setting and the other half of the trade hall will provide space for technical seminars relating to their offerings (i.e. below the line marketing).

Date: Tuesday 1 December 2015
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Format: Drinks and canapes
Location: Norton Rose Fulbright, Sydney

“The conduct of next year’s industry conference in Singapore is an exciting development that is intended to reflect the changing emphasis of our industry from one that has historically been stand-alone, to one that is increasingly influenced by the neighbouring SE Asia Region”, said ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie.

As a number of SE Asian Economies prepare to de-regulate their national fuel markets, opportunities are likely to arise for Australian service companies and this conference is the first step in laying the foundations for facilitating this enterprise.

“The 2016 Event will see the introduction of a new Trade Hall concept that has been developed to deliver enhanced value to our sponsors and exhibitors in terms of opportunity conversion”, said Mark.

“This element will dovetail with a series of conference sessions that will explore the latest developments and issues in the industry via dialogue with some of the captains of our industry”, said Mark.

The objective of the launch party is to simply provide our potential partners with information about the Australasian Fuel Industry Forum 2016 and signal the commencement of formal preparations for this event in Singapore during September 2016.

“Our thanks go to Norton Rose Fulbright who have offered to host this event in their Sydney offices and we look forward to unveiling the concept during the night”, said Mark.
