Caltex stands with community of storm-affected Kurnell with $250,000 donation

Caltex Australia has pledged $250,000 to assist the community of Kurnell rebuild and recover from the recent tornado.

Caltex stands with the people of Kurnell as an Australian company, a proud member of the Kurnell community since the 1950s, and a proud employer of many current and past residents of Kurnell.

Close to 300 employees and contractors were on site at the Caltex terminal when the tornado struck, and saw first-hand the devastating effects. In addition, some of our employees were personally affected by the tornado. Caltex is assisting these employees where possible.

Managing Director & CEO Julian Segal said, “Yesterday I went to Kurnell to speak with our team who were on the ground during the tornado to see for myself the impact that it had on our terminal and the surrounding community. As a concerned neighbour and friend of the community, we would like to contribute financially to the rebuilding of this great community.

“We’ve liaised with government and others to identify the best way to direct the $250,000 donation to ensure it is distributed to the services and people who need it most.”

The donation will be made to Red Cross who are one of the many support agencies assisting the Kurnell community.

Caltex Executive General Manager Supply Chain Operations Andrew Brewer said, “I worked onsite at Kurnell for many years and it’s distressing to see the widespread damage throughout the Kurnell community. It is especially hard as we head into the holiday season when people look forward to enjoying time at home with their families.

“We hope this donation will go some way to assist in the rebuilding of this close-knit community.”
