WAGGA motorists banking on an early Christmas present at the petrol pump may have to wait a little while longer.

At most major petrol stations on Thursday, unleaded fuel was still more than 1.20 cents a litre.

While savings from a six-year low in the price of oil are expected to be passed onto consumers, average prices in the Riverina are still some of the highest in the state.

It comes as some petrol stations in Sydney are reportedly selling below 100 cents a litre.
