Wrist watches are among several suspected stolen items seized by police following a search of a vehicle at a service station at Richmond in Adelaide’s west.

Police attended the Richmond Road service station at 6:00pm on Sunday after a 23-year-old Mile End man was recognised by an attendant from a previous petrol drive-off.

The man was detained until police arrived.

A search of his vehicle allegedly uncovered a bicycle, a laptop and the watches, which were all suspected to be stolen.

The bike has been returned to its owner.

The man was arrested and charged with theft, making off without payment, unlawful possession and making a false declaration to a second-hand dealer.

Police are now trying to identify the watches’ owners so the items can be returned.

The man was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 10.
