Katter pushes for renewable fuel
Federal independent MP Bob Katter wants Australians filling their cars with at least 10 per cent renewable fuel from 2022.
A private bill introduced to parliament on Monday seeks to regulate renewable fuel content, mandating a minimum five per cent of ethanol or other renewable fuels at the bowser from 2019 and a minimum 10 per cent from 2022.
The move would reduce car emissions and associated health impacts, create jobs in regional Australia and increase the nation’s self-sufficiency when it comes to fuel and food, Mr Katter said.
