EPA Executive Director Damian Wells says Viva has been fined $7,500 for a licence breach.
He adds their investigation at the Corio refinery continues.
Viva has released a statement saying it “has engaged independent experts to assist in identifying the root cause of four licence exceedences recorded during late 2015 and early 2016 and the potential solution to prevent further exceedences”.
Meantime Impact Fertilisers at Corio has been fined $15,000.
The penalty relates to two illegal discharges of contaminated liquid last November.
