MOTORISTS may be treated to a petrol price war with Brendale set to have three service stations within a kilometre of each other.
A new development has been proposed for a service station, food outlet, shop and showroom at 40 Nolan Rd – on the corner of Scouts Crossing Rd and Linkfield Rd
The public can comment on the proposal until April 12.
United Petroleum is also planning to construct a service station with a fast food outlet and six showrooms at 354 South Pine Rd – just one kilometre away.
Already between the two sites is an existing Caltex petrol station.
United Petroleum spokesman Joshua Lahoud said he expected construction of its servo to be completed by October this year.
“There is good traffic flow and we see it as a growing, up and coming area to invest in,” he said.
RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said she hoped the increased competition would result in a better deal at the bowser.
“Hopefully this means consumers will see lower prices,” she said.
“In high competitions areas, like Gympie Rd for example, we do tend to see lower prices.”
