Federal Labor will announce a response to the axing of a road safety tribunal, but won’t reveal whether it will reinstate it if elected.

The government secured enough crossbench support to abolish the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal when parliament was recalled on Monday, after widespread pressure from owner truck drivers.

Opposition frontbencher Anthony Albanese told the Nine Network on Friday his party “will have legislation of some sort” to tackle road safety, but refused to say whether it will pursue bringing back the tribunal.
