A man used a machete to smash through glass doors and rob a service station at Wynnum West early Sunday morning.

At 1.45am a machete-wielding man broke down the locked glass doors of a Preston Road service station and demanded cash and cigarettes from a male attendant.

The man fled with the cash and cigarettes on foot and was seen heading towards Wondall Road.

The attendant and a female customer who was in the store at the time of the robbery were not injured.

The man is described as Caucasian, about 180 centimetres tall and was wearing all black clothing and carrying a black backpack.
