Police have charged two men with the attempted armed robbery of a service station at Alexandra Hills last Saturday night.

They allegedly entered a service station on Cambridge Drive about 9.30pm, and one of them then produced a tomahawk.

He allegedly demanded tobacco, but both men fled when the attendant refused to comply.

Nothing was stolen and no one was physically injured during the attempted robbery.

A 18-year-old Hemmant man has been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing dangerous drugs and failing to properly dispose of a needle or syringe.

A 19-year-old Wynnum West man has been charged with attempted armed robbery and enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

They are both due to appear in Wynnum Magistrates Court today.
