THOUSANDS of litres of diesel fuel was spilt on the Hume Highway on Thursday night after a ute “T-boned” a petrol tanker near Collingullie.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm and closed the road for around two hours while the spillage was cleared.

Nobody was seriously injured when a ute attempted to enter the highway and collided with the side of the tanker.

Police have warned drivers to be extremely careful when driving around trucks carrying flammable liquids.
