The Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join our team.  Reporting to the National Installation Manager, you will be responsible for preparing tenders and quotations for installation project work across a number of Australian states.

In order to maintain our reputation for delivering high level quality service and installation to our oil company clients, this role calls for a self-motivated person with a strong customer focus; combined with the energy to meet the demands of our fast paced environment.


In this highly collaborative role you will be:

  • Preparing and completing high quality estimation tender submissions of installation works for Gilbarco’s clients.
  • Preparation of quotation with bill of quantities and cost plan, preparation of quotation document for submission.
  • Preparation of project time line to highlight critical path, project flow and hold points within the project.
  • Review prepared documents and costings with internal stake holders prior to submission to ensure requirements have been met within the tender.
  • Carry out review of tender with Manager for final sign off before submission.
  • Carry out onsite client meetings and inspections.
  • Comparison and analysis of subcontractor pricing to ensure our contractors, vendor’s and suppliers are the most competitive within their fields.
  • Liaise with clients post submission to ensure that Gilbarco’s tender meets the client’s requirements and to negotiate with the client to a successful submission. Provide feedback to GVR management of tender negotiation progress
  • Maintain records on Win/Loss ratio and report on a monthly basis.
  • Update Sales Force (CRM Tool) with opportunities, values, sales potential, client feedback
  • Monitor market activities and provide feedback on market trends and business opportunities.

Skills and Experience

As the ideal Estimator, you will possess the following:

  • 3+ years experience working in a similar role.
  • Be able to demonstrate your proven track record at winning hard dollar tenders up to the value of $1,000,000.00.
  • Capability to deliver multiple, simultaneous tenders.
  • Strong relationship building capabilities to manage client relationships, contractor relationships and broad range of vendors and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • Pro-active personality with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • High attention to detail.
  • An ability to deal with high pressure environments and competing demands.
  • Ability to travel inter-state and regional NSW.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Petroleum or Service based industry experience would be desirable.


  • Tertiary Qualification.
  • Unrestricted drivers licence.
