The NSW Environment Protection Authority has recently commenced a consultation on proposed changes to the Standards and Best Practice Guidelines for Vapour Recovery at Petrol Service Stations. Details of the Consultative Process can be found at http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/air/petrolvapour.htm.

The EPA advises that the amendments relate to the inclusion of European Standards for VR2 Certification and the inclusion of an associated in-service test.

The proposed changes are outlined in a draft paper that can be found at: http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/resources/air/standards-guidelines-vapour-recovery-petrol-service-stations-160586.pdf.

“Unfortunately, we received no advance notification of this consultation which is disappointing given the substantial impact of this regulation on our industry”, said ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie.

“Nonetheless, this is an important issue and member businesses – particularly those involved in the provision of VR equipment are encouraged to submit comments to this consultative process”, said Mark.

Comments on the discussion paper can be made via the online form (see http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/air/petrolvapour.htm) or by emailing comments to air.policy@epa.nsw.gov.au.
