A woman who allegedly pulled in front of a petrol tanker on a Victorian freeway, causing a horror smash that crushed a man to death, is due to front court.

Police say a 48-year-old Keilor woman pulled in front of a tanker on the Calder freeway in May, causing it to swerve.

The fully-loaded B-double tanker caused a crash with seven cars and another truck, closing the freeway in both directions for almost 10 hours and killing a 49-year-old Ascot Vale man.

The woman is charged with several dangerous driving offenses, including dangerous driving causing death, and is due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
