Masked thugs who were wielding a chainsaw have threatened a female service station worker in a terrifying robbery.

At 6:15 am on February 10, two men, one armed with an operating chainsaw entered the Coles Express service station on Clayton Road in Clayton South.

A woman was stocking shelves at the time before being made to go to the counter and hand over cash and a lot of cigarettes.

Kingston Police Sergeant Leo Raso said the men had their faces covered.

“This was a terrifying experience for the service station worker,” Sgt Raso said.

The offenders pulled up the service station in a black Rav 4 with Sgt Raso saying it was stolen from Narre Warren at around 4:40 AM.

The car has yet to be located by police and has a licence plate UOI476.
