Police are hunting for thieves who rammed a stolen car through the front doors of the Caltex service station in East Albury and stole cigarettes.

A stolen silver Hyundai IMAX was reversed into the doors three times, successfully smashing the glass and allowing two men to get inside the store at 11.12pm Monday.

One used a jemmy bar to break into the cigarette cabinet at the rear of the store.

The Hyundai, which had been stolen from Dean Street near the Albury Regent Cinemas ion Monday afternoon, was burnt out entirely at end of Annette Street in Lavington at 11.30pm.

Police are continuing to investigate and have asked anyone with information to contact Albury police or Crime Stoppers.

Extracted from Border Mail.
