A 12-year-old boy has been charged with the armed hold-up of a service station on the Gold Coast.

He allegedly threatened a female worker at the Shell servo in Upper Coomera with a knife before running off with a sum of cash from about 9.10pm yesterday.

Police arrested him nearby a short time later, and recovered all the money.

The boy has been charged with one count of armed robbery. The worker was not physically injured.
