A 22-year-old man allegedly robbed an Idalia service station with a knife in the early hours this morning.
District duty officer Senior Sergeant Joe Matheson said a man entered the BP service station on Stuart Dr at 2.50am and demanded cash from a staffer.
Police will allege he showed the woman a knife in his waistband.
“The (man) obtained a quantity of cash from the till and left the location on foot,” he said.
Sen-Sergeant Matheson said the man did not try to conceal his identity and no one was injured in the robbery.
Police obtained information that the alleged robber, from Bracken Ridge in Brisbane, then caught a taxi to a Caltex petrol station in Railway Estate.
Police arrested the man at the service station at 3.30am.
The man has been charged with entering a premise with intent to commit an indictable offence, armed robbery and possessing a knife in a public place.
He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow.
