A MAJOR search is underway for a masked gunman who shot a service station attendant during a terrifying armed robbery in Springvale South this morning.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, is understood to have been shot in the elbow at a 7-Eleven on Springvale Rd and was taken to The Alfred in a stable condition.
