A 23-year-old Beaudesert man faces a charge of going armed to cause fear after an incident at the Caltex Oakland Way service station on February 20 after 8pm.

A police spokesman said the man approached the door brandishing a weapon but the night counter was in operation and the door was locked, so he left on foot.

He will front the Beaudesert Magistrates Court on March 19.

The public is reminded to report in detail anything suspicious they might see.

Even the most seemingly inconsequential piece of information could assist police with an investigation.

Dash cam footage is also proving a useful law enforcement tool, with police investigations benefiting from the technology in a variety of scenarios.

Police said community members should always be mindful of personal safety and never put themselves at risk.
