An Eden service station attendant is recovering and thankful it didn’t turn out worse after being doused with petrol by a thief on Anzac Day.
At 6.25pm on April 25, the Caltex Eden worker recognised a man filling his car at the bowser as being someone who had allegedly left without paying the previous day.
South Coast Police District Acting Inspector Phil McCann said that when the man was approached and asked to stop, he allegedly turned on the staff member and sprayed fuel over her face and body.
He then left, again allegedly without paying for the petrol.
A 36-year-old man from West Nowra was arrested on Friday morning in Moruya and is helping police with their inquiries. Investigations are continuing.
