BP Asia Pacific chief Andy Holmes is stepping down at year’s end to be replaced by European-based executive Frederic Baudry.

Mr Holmes has run the oil giant’s Australian operations for what has sometimes been a tumultuous six years.

Earlier this week BP scrapped its rewards program ties with Virgin’s Velocity program and instead signed with Qantas.

Last week BP struck a deal with up-market department store David Jones, which will provide food for some of the petrol station operator’s convenience stores. The deal is aimed at increasing competition with BP’s rival Caltex and its Foodary stores.

Last year BP attempted to buy Woolworths’ retail fuel and convenience store business, but the $1.8 billion deal was blocked by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Instead the business was acquired by EG group, with Caltex remaining as petrol supplier.
