POLICE are calling for public assistance to track down an alleged petrol thief involved in two incidents.
The man, pictured, believed to be in his mid 30s was spotted driving a white Holden station wagon into the Melbourne-bound B.P petrol station at Little River on January 20 about 2pm.
Police say the car was fitted with stolen ZHK-915 number plates.
“The male driver in his mid 30’s put $86.91 of ULP into the vehicle. The male left without making any attempt to pay for the fuel,” a police spokesman said.
The same vehicle bearing the stolen plates was involved in an earlier petrol drive off from a Surf Coast Highway petrol station.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote 190447698 as the incident number.
