A man has been charged with multiple drug and firearm offences after being approached by police at a service station.

The Cedar Grove man was sitting in his white Land Cruiser at a Jimboomba service station around 9.30pm when police approached him.

The man was found to have a loaded gun in his possession, police allege.

His car was searched, and the 44-year-old was found to have a loaded shotgun fitted with a weapon-mounted light system, police allege.

Police also allegedly seized ammunition, three knives, a glass pipe and scales, and a number of drugs including cocaine, alprazolam, methylamphetamine, cannabis and meloxicam.

He was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs and was due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

He was also fined with possessing a knife in a public place, unlawful possession of a weapon, possess explosives, possess shortened firearm, possess restricted drug, possess drug utensil and possess property suspected of having been used in a drug offence.
