FUEL prices at a Cairns servo have dropped to a record low of less than a dollar a litre for the first time in many years.

Liberty Oil, located at 550 Bruce Highway Woree, has been offering Unleaded e10 for 97.9 cents a litre on Wednesday night, Unleaded 91 fuel for 99 cents a litre and Diesel for 105.9.

According to RACQ’s Monthly Fuel Price Report, the closest unleaded got to those prices was in May this year when the average was 106.9 cents per litre in Cairns.

United at 6 Southgate Close Woree appears to have responded in kind with E10 listed at 96.9 cents per litre and ULP 91 at 98.9 cents per litre.

Competitive pricing was a promise Liberty Oil made to motorists when opening its doors in Cairns in late July.

The Woree servo is the first of six Liberty Oil centres planned for the Far North region as part of a big expansion push for the company across Queensland.

According to RACQ’s July monthly report, the average unleaded price in Cairns was 119.1 cents per litre, and 120.3 for Diesel.
