Would you like save more than $100 dollars each year on petrol?

New research has revealed that you can – and it’s as easy as checking your phone and being willing to drive a little further to the bowser.

Analysis of two years of data by the Department for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen found the average family could save a cool $147 a year by using fuel price tracking apps.

The free services, including Fuel CheckRACQ Fair Fuel Price and Compare the Market’s Simples app – display petrol prices in real time so motorists can easily find the cheapest place to fill up.

They are updated regularly in each state and territory apart from Victoria, which is the only jurisdiction that hasn’t made it compulsory for petrol stations to report their prices.
