Following the launch of the South Australian Fuel Price Information Scheme in December 2020, retail fuel site operators are being reminded of the requirement for them provide appropriate contact details now, and to complete Registration with the Scheme by no later than 18 March 2021.

The SA Government has written to site operators to outline that they need to commence registering their details for the Scheme prior to its launch on 19 March 2021.

The Scheme aims to provide consumers with real time information about fuel prices, via a website.

From launch all fuel retailers will be required to report fuel prices to the website as close to real time following any change, and no more than 30 minutes from the time of the change.

Informed Sources will coordinate the collection of registration information for the Scheme from 17 February 2021 to 18 March 2021.

All retail fuel site operators must ensure that the have provided their contact details to FuelPricingScheme@sa.gov.au now, so that the correct details can be provided to Informed Sources and the Registration process can be directed to the correct person in the business.

The maximum penalty for failing to Register for the Scheme, and the maximum penalty for failing to update fuel prices within the timeframes required, is $10,000 per offence.
