A woman massively overfilled her car’s fuel tank after a petrol pump broke and refused to shut off, as you can see in the clip below:
In a clip shared on TikTok, Anna Heid showed the pump jammed into the car’s fuel port while petrol leaked out all over the car and spilled onto the ground below.
In a clip explaining the situation, she says: “OK… here’s the update – I really don’t know what to do right now.
“I don’t know how to stop it without it spraying.
“OK, you’re all going to think I’m so dumb – I did end up taking it out but it was doing that for, like, 20 minutes.”
The original clip was flooded with comments, with many people suggesting that Anna should simply have released the trigger on the pump.
However, in a follow-up video after her original post went viral, the student explained that it was completely broken and wouldn’t stop pouring out – leaving her unsure of what to do.
In the explainer video, Anna said: “I didn’t think this would blow up.
“Yes, guys, I get it, I’m dumb… but these death threats are excessive… but it’s fine.
“But let me explain, so, I was getting gas and it was going… the pump is broken, guys, the lever does not work.
“Like, I know you guys are saying, ‘hit the lever’, but it does not… like, it went in and then it broke.
“Like, it didn’t work. So what was I supposed to do? Take it out and, like, let it spray all over as well? Like, no.
“So right when I noticed it – it wasn’t for 20 minutes, I was being dramatic – I kept watching the thing and it was taking so slowly.
“Like, it took 20 minutes to get, like, 10 gallons of gas. And I don’t think it started spewing until the end.
“The pump was broken, can I just be clear on that. And right when I noticed it, a lady came out to help.
“So, I’m so sorry for your inconvenience.”
Commenters were divided after her update, with some still saying the pump was working or that she should have looked for an emergency shut off.
One wrote: “All you had to do was release the lever.”
While another person chipped in: “Does she not know that there’s an emergency off switch.”
However, some defended Anna, with one pointing out: “Obviously it was broken because that pin automatically flips when the tank gets to a certain point.
“That safety measure was clearly broken.”
Anyone else wondering how much she ended up having to pay for all the petrol that was wasted?
