An elderly driver has crashed through the front of a busy 7-Eleven store in the outer east.

An elderly driver has crashed his car through the front of a 7-Eleven store in Mooroolbark.

Police say it was lucky nobody was injured when the car smashed through a glass window at the Manchester Rd store just before 12.30pm Wednesday.

Yarra Ranges highway patrol acting Sergeant Julian Apps said the 79-year-old driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

“No one was injured which was pretty lucky; no one was in that part of the store,” he said.

Acting Sgt Apps said the driver was checked over by ambulance crews but didn’t need any treatment.

He said the man’s driver’s licence would be reviewed by VicRoads.
