A 22-year-old man will face court on Monday charged with armed robbery after a Maryborough service station was held up at knifepoint on Friday.

The man has also been charged with entering premises with intent, a spokeswoman from the Queensland Police Service said.

He was remanded in custody ahead of his appearance in Maryborough Magistrates Court.

It comes after a police manhunt for two men allegedly involved in the armed robbery on Adelaide Street.

A spokesman from the Queensland Police Service said earlier two men, one holding a knife, the other with a backpack, had walked into the Caltex Woolworths service station on Adelaide Street about 6.40pm and held up the person working there.

It is alleged a quantity of cigarettes and cash was stolen.

The two men were then spotted at the Fresh and Save supermarket and had last been seen heading in the direction of the Old Sydney Hotel.

The search for the second accused was continuing on Sunday.
