A woman has died in hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by two other women at a service station in Melbourne’s south-east last week.

Victoria Police were called to the 7-Eleven store at the corner of Hawthorn Road and Pyne Street in Caulfield about 10.15am last Thursday following reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, investigators were told a woman had poured coffee over a 52-year-old woman and assaulted her before fleeing the area.

Emergency services rushed to the scene about 10.20am and took the 52-year-old to the Alfred hospital, where she died from her injuries overnight on Tuesday.

The service station was cordoned off following the incident as forensic officers scoured the convenience store, talked to staff and took photographs of the scene.

Victoria Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of the woman’s death.

Moorabbin detectives charged two 51-year-old women from Caulfield with recklessly causing serious injury last Thursday. They are due to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates Court on May 19.

Anyone with information or footage of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information confidentially online.
