Police have released CCTV footage showing the alleged armed robbery of a service station of the Gold Coast on Monday night.

The man is seen entering the Highland Park business just before 9pm before throwing merchandise and forcing himself though security wires to get behind the counter, losing a shoe in the process.

Security footage then shows the man, allegedly armed with a knife, loading tobacco products into a backpack and fleeing just as quickly as he arrived.

A 27-year-old female staff member secured herself in a back room during the incident and was not injured.

The alleged burglar was last seen wearing a black Nike hoodie and matching shoes.

He wore a face mask throughout the event.

Police say that the man fled on foot down Alexander Drive.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
