A man was trapped in a vehicle after it smashed into a petrol bowser in Ipswich late on Friday night.

Emergency crews were called to the Silkstone 7 Eleven on the corner of Blackstone and South Station rds at 11.30pm, finding the man trapped inside the smoking vehicle.

Petrol was believed to have been leaking from at least one bowser, with crews taking precautions to limit its spread.

Fire rescue crews were attempting to get the man to safety via a rapid extrication.

High acuity and critical care paramedics were also in attendance.
