Thieves targeted businesses and private properties in the hunt for fuel, making off with 1000 litres of the liquid gold as police search for answers.

Offenders hit the rural property in Fairdale between June 18 and 26, taking off with a whooping 1000 litres of diesel.

A MacAlister Street fuel station was robbed of $75.15 worth of diesel about the same time, with a Ford Courier driving off from the Murgon business without paying at 7.35am on June 20.

Investigations are continuing into both matters.
